x402 revives the HTTP 402 Payment Required status so clients can pay for a resource in the same request cycle. Ridgeline uses that flow to mint a single task credit when payment clears.

Send Ridgeline the URL of a GitHub issue on a repo where the Ridgeline GitHub App is installed. The response is an HTTP 402 Payment Required challenge with the exact payment terms.

Settle onchain
Your wallet signs the payment payload and retries the same request. Settlement happens via the x402 protocol - USDC on Base, verified and settled through a Coinbase facilitator. You're only ever charged once payment fully settles.

The moment settlement confirms, your task starts - no credits to track, no second step. The Ridgeline agent works the issue and opens a pull request.
